Bio:

Greetings,

I'm a 27-year old lawyer from Connecticut, USA. My hobbies include fanfiction and strategy PC games. My favorite TV shows are probably South Park and the Daily Show with Jon Stewart. I'm a lifelong New England sports fan.

My favorite anime series include Inuyasha, Samurai Champloo, Black Lagoon, the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and Sword Art Online. I am a passionate writer, mostly for Inuyasha, and have done both long epics and short one-shots. Communities on Livejournal have really helped provide inspiration for the latter.

And yes, I am a man. I chose my username way back when in part to make the readers aware of that fact, since most fanfiction writers are female. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, but I also don't want to be lumped into a group that I don't belong to. My favorite fanfiction authors are all female, and I hope to live up to the lofty standards they have set.

I hope you enjoy my work, and if you have any praise or constructive criticism, please do not hesitate to leave a review.

Regards,
KB

Title: Chapter 18: Gameday Storm

Hehe, and Inuyasha thought he was so clever in hiding his jealousy earlier. Guess not.

Every chapter seems to bring more questions. Did Inuyasha and Sango finally have a much-needed confrontation? Is Inuyasha now about to say something that HE will regret? Kudos for structuring the story in such a way so that it constantly builds tension.

Author's Response: All questions will be answered in due time. As for tension, it isn't my goal to create *too* much of it. But then again, we can't have rainbows and glitter all the time, either, like the previous chapter (even if it was nice to write some good times for our favorite couple).

HOT. Very. Foreplay is seldom portrayed quite like that. I think you balanced Inuyasha's youkai side perfectly with his rational mind. I generally don't like it when people give his youkai side too much influence, but you are maintaining a nice balance so far.

Was Sesshoumaru's scene here a new one? I don't remember his character being featured as much in the old version, though I could be wrong. Do you plan to feature him more? I'm not worried; I may not like Sesshoumaru as a person, but his scenes are interesting. I know you would do it without detracting from the main storyline.

Author's Response: I'm a big fan of foreplay (I guess most women are, eh?). But I'm glad to hear I'm not overdoing it.

No, the Sesshomaru scene was here before. He will have his role to play, just like everyone else. I cut off last time right before he became more involved, so that's probably why you don't remember him. I hope to maintain a good balance - he's definitely a supporting character, not a main one. Inu and Kag are still the stars. :)

Title: Chapter 20: In the Dark

You had me completely with the dream. I thought certain things Kagome was saying were a little OOC even for drunk Kagome, but I never suspected that it wasn't really happening. It's probably a good thing that it wasn't real though.

I was surprised that Kagome didn't get more angry about Inuyasha looking at her phone, but I understand what you said in the A/N. Her guilt over not ending things with Kouga is really screwing with her head right now. And "Tramp" mentioned Kouga right before that, which didn't help her psyche any.

You were probably concerned that people would criticize you for portraying Kagome in a temporarily weaker/submissive role. People criticized me for doing that in Blackout at times. My own feeling is that even strong women don't have to be strong all the time. Everyone has periods where emotionally they are just not at their strongest.

Author's Response: Kagome was angry that he looked at her phone, but she was distracted by her relief that he didn't find out about her and Kouga still being "together." Otherwise, I'm sure he would have gotten more of an earful about it.

You're mostly right. People love to idealize her and think she has the grit to take on anything and overcome everything. (Others think she's a big crybaby who can't handle the tiniest problems, but that's another rant.) I tend to think she's somewhere in between, but definitely more on the stronger side. But everybody has weaknesses, especially those stemming from a bad experience or two. Sometimes relationships just don't work out, but sometimes, they get ugly and end badly, and when that happens in your first real relationship, even the strongest person can end up a bit scarred.

Title: Chapter 21: One Late Sunday Morning

One wonders if Kagome's head will be more or less fucked up after this. :) Great job with the fight scene. Again, Kouga is an antagonist, but a somewhat sympathetic one.

I like the Miroku/Sango aside, btw. They've had a basically perfect, model relationship to this point. Great sex, with love and respect. The issues with her father are an interesting storyline, and I hope you continue to develop it.

Author's Response: Sorry for the late reply. Yes, I'm going to continue with the Miroku/Sango tangent. I suppose it's not really a tangent, because I consider them major characters as well, and also, it will become entwined with Inuyasha/Kagome a little later, in a way. They have lives, too, right? That doesn't revolve around I/K, that is. :) As always, thank you for your review.

Title: Chapter 22: The Risks Men Take

Yay! New stuff new stuff new stuff! :D

Not that I haven't enjoyed the 'old stuff' so far, much of which my faded memory has made into basically new stuff. Can't wait!

I understand about real life though. Slower updates just mean more time for us to anticipate the next one. :)

Author's Response: Trust me, I'm just as happy as you are to be posting new stuff. :) I hope it lives up to your expectations and that it hasn't been built up too much, lol. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding! Real life can be a bitch sometimes. I'm always thankful for when I get some time to myself to work on what I enjoy. I wish I had a little more of it, but that's life, right?

Title: Chapter 23: Dinner and a Show

Ah, and the pieces fall into place... I went back and re-read a few sections of the story (Kikyou's phone call with Sesshomaru in chapter 19, for example), and now it all makes sense. I'll be honest and say that I in no way saw this coming. :)

I take it that Inuyasha has no idea that Sesshomaru is the person who Kikyou fooled around with? I can only imagine how her presence is going to mess with all of their lives.

Strep throat SUCKS. I used to get it every spring when I was a teenager. Haven't gotten it since, and I hope it stays that way!

Author's Response: Yay, I haz stealthy! :D

No, Inuyasha doesn't know - we'll delve more into that very soon. Kikyou is another complicated character; perhaps not as much as Kouga, but she has her own complexities I'm dealing with. Not all will be as it seems.

Side note - I actually pretty much loathe stories in which she's just an all-around evil bitch. With that being said, I wanted to explore my interpretation of antagonist!Kikyou, since her role in my first fic was small and fairly ambiguous. But I also feel that nobody - NOBODY - is all evil. People are complex creatures, and even the bad guys have redeeming qualities; they're just often overshadowed by their sins. We'll see how much of that comes through for her here.

Title: Chapter 23: Dinner and a Show

You get two reviews from me this chapter. It occurred to me that if you were going to stop the story, go on hiatus and then rewrite, where you stopped was the absolute perfect place to do so. Before revealing this amazing twist (you know, for those of us who weren't alert enough to anticipate it). Not sure if you planned it that way, but I think given the circumstances it worked out well that way.

Author's Response: Ha, this is convenient, isn't it? But no, I definitely didn't plan it this way. That's just where I was in the story when life came crashing down around me last time. Glad to see there was some good that came out of it! As always, thank you for your review(s)! :)

Title: Chapter 24: Haunts from the Past

Hehe, I couldn't wipe the stupid grin off my face as I read the description of Sesshoumaru's suffering. He totally deserves everything that's coming to him.

I'm so glad Kagome managed to convince Inuyasha to open up. I'm sure you still have a ton of angst to throw at them (and I'm looking forward to it) but it's moments like these that show that they are truly meant for each other.

Hehehe...with the title, I was expecting a lemon. I need to get my mind out of the gutter, I guess. Hmmm...I wonder if we'll see Kouga again. It seems he can't appear in a story (even an AU) without making a pass at Kagome. Somehow I don't think he'd have much luck here.

Author's Response: No need to get your mind out of the gutter. It can keep swimming there with mine. ;) I can say we will see Kouga again, but he's securely mated to Ayame. But there is a reason he showed up (even though exactly why won't become clear for a while yet).

That was fun. They won't look at a plane the same way ever again. Mile high club!

Author's Response: Hehe, you betcha! When I realized they were going to be on a plane, and Inu Yasha was going to be freaking out from being a first time flyer, I absolutely couldn't resist. They're both going to have very fond memories, that's for sure!

Okay, so you're telling us to enjoy the fluff and smut while it lasts? Not a problem. :)

Author's Response: Whoo-hoo! Seriously, though, I'm glad. There will still be bits of fluff and plenty of smut going on throughout the fic. There's just a high concentration of it here at the beginning. It's Inu Yasha and Kagome's honeymoon, after all!

Well, you certainly have guts to go "there." Most writers either don't want to or don't know how. If you want to write more lemons involving anal play in the future, by all means. I would just say not to overdo it. Like everything else which society views as taboo, it's probably best enjoyed in moderation. :)

Author's Response: Thank you, and I completely agree with you. Too much spice can ruin a dish, so the anal play is mostly confined to "special occasions" in this. I think it appears in maybe four or five lemons out of roughly thirty. I think it helps that I cut my lemon-writing teeth on yaoi back when I was a baby otaku (yes, showing my age there). I like there to be variety, and as you said, it seems to be an area not all are comfortable with. And that's fine. I'm just a total smut puppy at times. ;p

Title: Chapter 9: Chapter 9 - Human Again

I re-read The Lucky Ones recently but I don't remember that "Jizo" line. Then again, it is a long story.

I guess I don't blame Inuyasha for his insecurity too much. He'd been lonely for a long time before the events of One Plus One. It's obvious to us what will happen, but perhaps not to him.

Author's Response: It's in Chapter 21, right after they get a shikon shard out of an ogre's nose. Kagome makes the comment because Inu Yasha has Shippou and Yukio each in an arm, and Kirara on his shoulder. Yeah, I've read it way too much... :p As for this story, Inu Yasha has gone through a lot, but he also sees his life through a distorted lens (as I think most of us do to some extent). He'll have a much healthier perspective (ie. what us readers can see) by the end. That I can promise.

It's curious that you had Suzumi be an original character rather than one adapted from canon, like Suikotsu. Perhaps you didn't want us to have any idea what her intentions might be? Kudos for regular updates. I know it's not always easy.

Author's Response: You know, I originally did have as part of the author's note something that would give the game away. :) Suzumi is actually not an original character, though one may not immediately recognize her (though there is a hint to the woman's identity in both her appearance and the name she uses now). Especially since I will admit I base this universe's version of her on her earliest canon behavior. All will eventually revealed, though. I promise! And thank you. I really try to update every Friday, but sometimes it gets pushed to Saturday due to life getting in the way. I always try my hardest, though! And who better to understand?

Title: Chapter 20: Chapter 20 - Beneath the Surface

My legal brain can't help but think about the pending custody battle. If Hojo had nothing to do with Sachiko's abduction, then "allowing" her to be kidnapped looks really bad. Or if he did have something to do with it, but they can't prove it. Perhaps some drama for down the road? Not that I'm any closer to solving the mystery of her kidnapper than I was before... :)

Author's Response: I would love to say more, but I don't want to spoiler anything. Suffice to say, the question of Hojo's involvement in all this will come up. :) Though I admit, I ended up having to go more "Law and Order" than realism for the purposes of fiction when the courtroom scenes come up. Exactly who Sachiko's kidnapper is will be fully revealed once Sachiko is rescued, but that's still a little ways off.

Hmmm, did that explosion come from Naoki's powers or something else? I honestly don't mind cliffhangars. Don't even get me started on Americans and guns though...

Author's Response: Got it in one. The next chapter's going to be pretty intense, but everything will turn out in the end. And I'm with you on Americas and guns. All I'll say (since this isn't a political forum) is that the fervor on both sides of the issue definitely reinforces the stereotype.
