Greetings,

I'm a 27-year old lawyer from Connecticut, USA. My hobbies include fanfiction and strategy PC games. My favorite TV shows are probably South Park and the Daily Show with Jon Stewart. I'm a lifelong New England sports fan.

My favorite anime series include Inuyasha, Samurai Champloo, Black Lagoon, the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and Sword Art Online. I am a passionate writer, mostly for Inuyasha, and have done both long epics and short one-shots. Communities on Livejournal have really helped provide inspiration for the latter.

And yes, I am a man. I chose my username way back when in part to make the readers aware of that fact, since most fanfiction writers are female. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, but I also don't want to be lumped into a group that I don't belong to. My favorite fanfiction authors are all female, and I hope to live up to the lofty standards they have set.

I hope you enjoy my work, and if you have any praise or constructive criticism, please do not hesitate to leave a review.

Regards,

Thanks for finishing! No worries about the time; you do what you can when RL allows. Losing a chapter is like a nightmare for me. I sweat I save every hour on google drive when I'm writing, in case my laptop explodes or something.

A couple things I liked this chapter:
1. The whole musical instrument analogy you kept coming back to during the lime. It worked really well in repetition without becoming too much.
2. Kagome's mind warring with her heart warring with her body - it was like three separate people in one (with two sharing the same opinion). I felt that her inner conflict was really well handled.

The ending works, as you said. A reader shouldn't really expect a "happily ever after" ending from this type of story anyway. It was more of a one-shot, 'heat of the moment' type deal. It's enough that you left it open to happily ever after down the road. I was surprised that you brought the demon mating aspect in, but I don't have a problem with it.

One small criticism - you said this chapter was somewhat rushed and I could tell to some extent. There were just a few uncharacteristic spelling/grammar errors sprinkled throughout. Not enough to detract from the story, but they were there. If you have the time/inclination, maybe give the chapter a final once-over. Not that I can talk really; I proofread chapters 3-4 times and still miss errors sometimes.

Other than that, I have no complaints. This story was entertaining and well-written. I hope you find time to continue writing in the future.

Title: Chapter 1: A Secret Rendezvous

A very entertaining one-shot, and a different look at Inuyasha and Kagome's potential sex life.  Your interpretation of their interations with his hanyou and human selves is different than most, but it makes sense.  Inuyasha had to know the "sit" was coming if he beat on Shippou though...maybe he did it on purpose, LOL?

Author's Response: Glad you liked the story. I know most people picture Inuyasha as being a more gentler person in his human form, but the anime and manga shows a different personality when he has changed. He gets really cranky and gets more aggresive too. He is more himself as a hanyou than as a human. So it makes sense that it acts out even during their lovemaking.

Short and sweet, but IMO a very in-character look at post-manga interaction between them. I could totally see a kiss (their first?) developing this way. I like your writing style - varying sentence structure, etc.

Author's Response: \"Very in-character\" I\'m so pleased you thought so! It\'s something I like to try and get right, if nothing else. Quite possibly a first kiss scenario, yes! ;) I definitely wanted to try and portray a new found level of intimacy between the two.

Title: Chapter 1: Prologue

*my head explodes*

ERMAHGERD indeed. Really looking forward to this!

This scene was in the original, if I'm not mistaken. It's a great prologue - just a taste of a complicated father/son relationship which defines some of Inuyasha's character later on...in only 500 words.

Author's Response:

I take no responsibilitiy for exploding heads.

"Heavily revised" may be a bit misleading. Much of the story has remained the same to the original, but what I've revised is the telling of the story (which is my roundabout way of saying I hacked out some of the wordiness and phrasing issues I had before). You'll recognize most of the story, with a few tweaks here and there for continuity purposes. Maybe an additional scene or three. :) Thank you so much for the great review, and I hope you enjoy the ride.

Ah...I'm already hooked the same way I was when I first read the story. I'm glad it was a while ago when I first read it, because my memory is pretty fuzzy and it's almost like reading a new story!

A wonderful start for Inu/Kag...those two will be grating on each other's nerves (in more ways than one) for some time. Looking forward to more!

Author's Response: Thanks. :) I've been chopping up and rewriting a few of the chapters, so it may new a little new anyway, but you'll remember a lot of it when you read it, I think. I'll probably have the next chapter up in the next day or two, so you won't have to wait long. Glad you're enjoying it (again).

Title: Chapter 3: Auditions

I remember those stupid cymbals from high school...things were a pain in the ass to play. Kagome's hands probably hurt right about now.

And so it begins. I'm remembering how much I loved the Inu/Kag buildup. Right now it's mostly physical attraction, but that will change. And then they both have past romantic issues hovering underneath the surface. A lot of authors would tell us right away what happened with Hojo, not realizing that it's an opportunity for suspense. As a reader, drawing the revelation out makes the impact on Kagome's psyche feel deeper. Same thing with Inuyasha's dad. Advanced writing tactics for angst lovers. :)

Author's Response: Wow, thank you. :) One thing I changed about this chapter was coming out with Kikyou's story - I never went into those details the first time. But between Hojo and Inuyasha's father, I figured there was enough mystery, and there was no real reason to keep Inu/Kik's story a secret. But other times, the reader has to really know and get attached to a character first before they feel the real impact of a trauma and truly sympathise. That's my theory, anyway. Thank you for reviewing.

My condolences for your loss. I do probate for a living so I see people dealing with death every day. But when it's someone you know, somehow you're never really prepared for it.

I think the people who are offended by things characters say are those who haven't written anything (or anything controversial). If it's just a character expressing an opinion, and not the author's opinions obviously bleeding into the work, then you can't get offended. But people still do. Ah, well. All you can do is disclaim yourself, I guess.

Enter Kouga, eh? It's funny how Inuyasha still thinks that Kagome's baggage is not his problem. Soon it will become his biggest problem!

Author's Response: Thank you. This was a rough one. All I could do before when that person complained was roll my eyes. You can't make everyone happy. Things might be a little different this time around. ;) We'll have to wait and see....

Title: Chapter 5: Enter the Wolf

I blanched a little when I saw that Koga drives a Mustang. I drive one myself. Bought it a couple years ago on a splurge, but didn't break the bank. Koga is the kind of guy who should be driving a Honda or a Toyota...the clues are there, dude. She's just not into you. :)

I do feel kind of sorry for him though, at least at this point in the story. I don't really remember how the love triangle develops from here, but I'm looking forward to refreshing my memory (or reading new material?)

Author's Response: Ha, oops! Didn't mean to compare you to Koga, but sorry, a Toyota just isn't his style. And for the record, I drive a Toyota, so watch it, mister. (Just kidding.) Koga wants a bit of a flashy car, but most of his money was probably spent on his house, so I figured a Mustang was a good compromise.

You SHOULD feel bad for him. He's getting a raw deal. She should have broken up with him ages ago, but as Inuyasha pointed out, she has baggage. Yes, there is new material coming up. :) Thanks for reviewing.

That near kiss at the end is awesome. My favorite section: "They were gorgeous, really. Maybe too strong a word, but in her raw emotional state, she found herself veering toward the superfluous as she lost herself in his honey-sweet gaze."

Seriously, I don't mind the drawn-out romance. Keep us waiting on the edge of our seats!

Author's Response: Thanks. I don't tend to prefer purple prose, so when I found myself leaning that way this time, I felt a need to disclaim it. It worked the way I wanted it to, so I was mollified in using it. :)

Ah, yes, the thing that makes us feel not so bad for Koga after all...I think I remember what it is. Miroku is a good friend for telling Inuyasha what he needs to know, even though it could be construed as betraying Kagome's trust. He waited until he was sure the hanyou was seriously interested, but nobody will ever be able to get close to Kagome without knowing what they're up against.

Author's Response: Miroku was in a bit of a tight spot, but I think he did the right thing. He's a good guy, and he generally has pretty good judgement - better than most others, I think. That's what way I see him, anyway. Not that he won't make his own mistakes.... :)

Title: Chapter 8: Koga's Heart

I'm looking forward to Inuyasha's thoughts on this. I can't imagine he's very pleased with all of this...but he'll no doubt find some encouraging signs and become even more determined. I'm really glad you gave us a chapter from Kouga's perspective. It makes him more real as a character and harder to hate. We're not rooting for him, for sure, but the perspective makes the story more conflicting for the reader.

Author's Response: Koga's not a "true" villain in this story. I don't want to elaborate too much, but I'll say that I'm glad I was able to drum up some sympathy for him. My own two cents: Inuyasha is more of an antagonist to Koga than vice versa (so far, anyway). And thanks for your praise. This won't be the only chapter in Koga's perspective. :)

Title: Chapter 10: In Your Eyes

Awesome chapter. You started out with a little comedy, some of it reminding me of my own "talking to my penis" episodes. Every guy has those, LOL.

Inuyasha's confession was totally believable for his character, and absolutely perfect. He doesn't understand it now, but that was literally the best that he could have done. He told Kagome his feelings in no uncertain terms and condemned her decision to stay with Kouga, without messing things up by saying anything he shouldn't have. Kagome said he was overstepping his bounds, but as an outside observer I don't think he ever did. It's also nice to see that both Miroku and Sango are pulling for him now. Kagome is all alone in her devotion to Koga...but she is nothing if not stubborn, as we know.

Author's Response: Thank you. This is actually one of my favorite chapters, even if it was painful to write - I'm just happy with how it came out. You generally have a pretty good grasp on characterization, in my opinion, so I'm happy to hear you think mine is on point, at least for Inuyasha in this chapter. Your review made me smile because you picked up on everything that I'm trying to portray for each character right now. :) By the way, I'm sorry I haven't read any more of "Blackout" recently, but it's only because this time of year is kind of crazy for me (career-wise), and I'm still scrambling to put last-minute touches on this story so I can stay on the schedule I set for myself. Plus, the holidays are coming, which means A LOT of cooking and baking is on the horizon. But I'm going to get a chapter or two in whenever I can. It's a great story. Author's Response: Thanks. I'll admit to being slightly sadistic in stopping there, but it just makes sense. Yay! I seem to remember more fireworks in the original version, but I could just be misremembering. Excellent choice telling Kouga's part from Sesshoumaru's perspective. He thinks about women the same way that Kouga does (i.e. sexist), but he's much wiser and has a dry sort of humor about him.

Fantasize all you want, Kagome, but this is one case where saying something is much, much easier than actually doing it.

Author's Response: Really? I didn't change anything in that scene. You might be remembering the chapter with their first date (which has been completely scrapped and rewritten, coincidentally).

I have a love/hate relationship with Sesshomaru in this fic. He'll continue to play a role later on; a fairly significant one, actually. I enjoy writing him. Thanks for reviewing!

Here we go...I can imagine several ways Kouga could react. Perhaps it will be a combination of them.

Kagome probably should have worn something a little more conservative that shorts and a tank top to go break up with Kouga. But she probably just didn't think about her wardrobe; she does have a lot on her mind. And it is hot down there.

She is also extremely lucky to have Sango. Her cousin understands her perfectly, and seems to know what's best for her. Kagome has a penchant for self-denial, so to have someone in her life who is willing to speak so plainly is great for Kagome's mental health, even if she resents it at times.

Author's Response: Oh, Kouga. He's not the simple guy so many think he is. And I don't believe anything Kagome wore would change how he felt when he saw her standing there. But then again, like I said, he's not so simple... maybe she should have rethought her attire. But as you mentioned, it's hot down there, especially that time of year (early September).

Sango is a rare find, in more ways than one. She'd fit right in in my family! She always has the best intentions for those she loves, even if she goes about the wrong way to show it sometimes. Thanks for your review, and Happy New Year!

“Say, you want to go for a drive?”

That right there is the point where any lingering sympathy for Kouga goes right out the window. I applaud you for concealing this side of him for so long. You hinted at it, but this is the first time it's revealed so openly. At least Kagome stuck to her guns and left. Kouga is very thick-headed, so this is probably the best she could have done. Even being more firm with him would likely have made no difference.

Great update. Can't wait to see where things go from here.

Author's Response: Thank you. As I said, Kouga is a complex character, and all is not always at it seems. But more on that later....

But that line does sound a little misleading, doesn't it? I didn't mean to portray that he was going to kill her or anything like that (at least one other person gathered that), so I may go back and add a little more context there. In the meantime, let us see how our resident hanyou interprets these events (or what he's told of them). As always, thank you for your review.

Title: Chapter 16: Relying on His Heart

I hope your back is feeling okay. I can't blame Sango for being skeptical, but hopefully Inuyasha earns her trust fairly soon. Both she and Miroku are right in a way. I think Kagome needs the closure of Kouga letting her go, but we know that isn't going to happen easily. If Kagome was capable of forgetting about him as Miroku suggests, that would be for the best, but she's clearly not capable of that.

This is becoming one convoluted love triangle...not that I'm complaining. :)

Author's Response: My back will be fine, thanks. Just have to take it easy for a little while (I fell trying to get the Christmas lights out of the tree in our front yard, and I landed badly. I wish it were something more exciting, lol).

Sango means well and just wants what's best for Kagome, as does Miroku. But Sango is a realist, even if she does think a little too emotionally at times. Miroku is what I call a moderate idealist: a balance between the two, but probably leaning more toward idealism. So he's going to approach this situation differently from Sango, naturally. I agree with you - they both have valid arguments....

Oh, just you wait. I'm not finished weaving my web yet. :D Thanks for your review.

That picture is awesome. The hesitantly intertwined fingers are a great touch.

The outing to Tiger Stadium was very imaginative; it was like you had been on that journey through the construction areas yourself.

I would be more inclined to agree with Sango if Kouga wasn't so hard-headed. Kagome can tell him that it's over until she's blue in the face, and he'll never accept it. Anyway, the girls will hopefully get on speaking terms again next chapter; I don't think I remember a long schism between them. I was glad to see that thoughts of Kouga didn't ruin their first date, but we know the unresolved nature of that relationship will cause problems at some point...

Author's Response: Isn't the artwork great? She really nailed it once again.

No comments on the Tiger Stadium trip. *whistles innocently*

I think everyone is hard-headed, except Miroku (who I always relate to, for some reason). The girls will be fine in the long run. Yes, you remember the problems that are coming.
