Chapter 22: Assumptions and Revelations
(Warning: Long rambly review ahead)
Gah! Just when I thought the angst was going to end, it's back in full force!
Then again, I can see both sides, so I just kind of feel bad for all of them... InuYasha's upset because his friends jumped to conclusions, and just when he finally had an epiphany and was able to say good-bye to the past, and look forward to the future, and now it's like that future is turning him away.
On the other hand, it's time for InuYasha to do some thinking... his friends only find that easy to believe because as far as I can tell, he didn't swing by the village at all to say things were okay so heck, Sango could still be mad about the "I lied" incident... also, they wouldn't have such an easy time jumping to those conclusions if he hadn't had such an easy time leaving their group before for that same purpose. And of course, he leaves rather than plead his case (or argue it, as the case may be), which makes it look to Kagome like he IS going "back" to Kikyou...
I think I'd have to side with the group on this one after looking at it (though I feel bad for InuYasha). The last one made sense, he was being "cruel to be kind" in a sense. And this time he was off doing something nice, but he KNOWS Kagome is still stinging from what was basically his rejection, he admitted to Daichi (who I adore, by the way) that Kagome might not have forgiven him completely yet...
The group needs to learn never to jump to conclusions when it comes to InuYasha, and I'm sure the aftermath of this could help cement that... but the repercussions of running off to Kikyou's beck and call are coming back to bite him in the ass this time.
Just to let you know - I thought InuYasha's revelation was perfect. Not too sudden, very careful... now I just hope he can hold on to that revelation and have a smaller one... perhaps one that can bring the whole group together? *crosses fingers*
I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN HANDLE THE SUSPENSE! *cries*Author's Response:
I love long reviews! You really captured all the conflicting emotions I was going for here. And don't worry, all will be explained next chapter, though I suspect you already have a good idea what's going on. Just remember that both Inu and Kag are hotheads; they prefer to fight or run before thinking clearly when it comes to each other. Thanks for the review.
