Dark eyes scanned the velvet night
hoping to find some other truth
than what the Gods had thrown
at her feet.
But his lips stayed, unmoving,
silence where there once was sound.
His mortal soul drifted through
those parted lips,
And his eyes snapped open once more.
Gone was the color of miners delight,
as blood seeped into the soulless orbs.
Gone was the one who had held her heart
And come was the killer.
