He could see the clouds encroaching on the village quickly, however, InuYasha stayed in his tree. Kagome and the others had already sought refuge in Kaede's hut imploring him to come but he protested that once the rain started they could be cramped in the tiny hut for hours. He promised Kagome he would be in as soon as he felt the first drop of rain. Before he had the chance to honor his word, he found himself flying through the air and hitting the ground with a sickening thud. He was dazed but otherwise uninjured. He could smell burning hair and wood, and saw the tree he had been in was lying on the ground in splinters.
Kagome came running from the hut, shocked and alarmed.
"InuYasha, are you alright?! I saw the lightening hit the tree you were in and you went flying! You're lucky to be alive. In my time people are knocked out of their shoes when they get hit by lightening."
"Feh? I'm not wearing shoes..."
