You write the cutest little tales, I love reading them. InuYasha and Kagome's adventures practically come to life when you weave words together. It is amazing and beautiful! Well done as usual, and thank you for sharing!

I usually do, just because the idea of him living for hundreds of ears after Kagome's death, not disappearance but death, is just too sad. I really don't think he would handle losing her like that well, and the idea of him having to live with that pain for several lifetimes makes any happy ending terribly tainted by an expiration date.

I sort of thoght of him as the age he appears, becase even without physically aging, he shoulf have aged mentally in time. He acts very muchlike a teenage boy.

Author's Response:

Before being teamed up with Kagome, he's also had not a lot of contact living with people, and he's very rough around the edges.  His mother in the first time she's drawn in the manga, even before the Unmother episode, is dressed in clothes that were being worn in the years around 1100, but with a hairdo that is later in time, when there was some revival of that dress fashion; but that type of clothes were not really being worn at the time InuYasha would have been a small boy ca. 1480 or thereabouts, if he was only about 15 or so for real.  By the end of the manga, he's acting much less like a jerky juvenile; by chapter 558, he's lived with a lot of sadness, being separated from Kagome, and has lived and worked with people for about 4 years total, and seems to be much better socialized.

Without definite definition by RT, we can play with the material pretty much how we want to since she didn't give us hard rules and still be within canon parameters.  I make an assumption that a lot of InuYasha's rudeness and attitude in the early part of the manga (including the stuff covered by the anime) that he had not yet really learned to live and be comfy with humans, never really having been very much accepted and treated as an outcast.  My next assumption is that the separation from Kagome while staying in the area of the village and remaining near to Sango and Miroku and their family taught him a lot about just living and being tolerable around people, and acting much less juvenile.  He even lets Miroku's girls tug on his ears without fussing hardly at all.  He's matured a lot.  He'll mature even more once he settles down with Kagome.

But these are my assumptions.  They aren't written in canon; they are the fruit of my thinking about things.  You are pretty much free to come to different conclusions.  Nothing wrong with making him age at a regular human lifespan, either.

You know what I always wonder? Did Inuyasha not age pinnedd to the tree because hes half demon (and if so, what will happen with Kagome and him after time passes) or was it because of the spell, like he was forzen in time. He was unconcious and unmoving. He didn't evne breathe. Could be. Anyway, this musing was inspiredd by the last couple lines of the story, which is cute.

Author's Response:

As far as I can tell, InuYasha was in a state between life and death...not permanent death, but not conscious or alive while he was pinned to the tree.  His body did not decay, his hair didn't grow, his muscles didn't grow weak.  So yeah, it was like he was frozen in time.

We have no idea, for real, about his age or the rate he ages at.  I am making some assumptions for my story that I want to, since the canon implies that Youkais don't age like humans, and InuYasha might be quite old by human standards.    In my post manga story line, I have InuYasha being born in the early 13oos...so he would have a lot of beans to eat indeed...LOL.
